London, England, known as the capital of capitals, has been ranked the best city in the world for nine consecutive years. Even though it has experienced Brexit, COVID-19, the impact of the Ukraine-Russia war, and the death of spiritual leader Queen II in the past few years, it still stands. It has a certain influence on global culture, economy, and art to the world. London won the championship because of its comfortable climate, smooth communication with English, and convenient subway transportation. New subway stations and train stations opened after the epidemic, making it easier to travel between cities.

Therefore, the number of people going to London for travel and further study has been increasing in recent years. Paris in France ranks second. During the COVID-19 period, the Paris city government and medical staff worked together to fight this century’s disease, and are now actively building a car-free city and preparing for the upcoming Paris Olympics. Even after Paris fell into an economic downturn and unemployment problems after 2020, and the city was turbulent due to racial discrimination incidents and protests, it still ranked first in the world in well-known attractions and landmarks, and ranked third in the world in the museum section. There are more than one hundred museum collections in the city.

Paris will be the most visited city in the world in 2022, with 44 million tourists last year. It has also been named the world’s largest tourist city in 2022 by the World Travel & Tourism Council. Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport took advantage of the decline in passenger traffic in the past three years and invested 250 million euros to renovate Terminal 1 and reopen it this year. The huge new terminal and the central hall with new technology allow tourists to have a better travel experience. There has also been a major leap forward in rail transport, with a seven-hour direct TGV train from Berlin to Paris due to open next year. Direct midnight trains from Venice to Paris will also start in 2025.

In the future, more space for walking and outdoor activities will be retained in the city, including legislation that requires outdoor parking spaces to be used as outdoor seating for restaurants. The streets with low traffic volume are closed and used as walking and open spaces. With the reduction of car traffic, the Seine River has become a town square in Paris. After renovation, it has become a home for more than 30 kinds of fish, including wild Atlantic salmon, trout, seabass, and eels. There are plans to hold swimming competitions to show the health and clean of Paris. Notre Dame de Paris will be reborn from the fire in 2024, and the whole city is full of incredible vitality.

Third place is New York, known as America’s greatest city, which is actively recovering after experiencing terrible COVID-19 from 2020 to 2022. They try hard to make the medical system reorganize and people are dedicated to returning to life and work. There is a new atmosphere everywhere. A variety of performances, the expansion of large museums, the birth of a new cultural center, and the renovation of the Metropolitan Museum of Art have all brought more literary and artistic to the city.

The number of passengers has also begun to show an alarming rebound, from 33 million in 2021 to 56 million in 2022, and is expected to reach 61 million this year. Huge tourism revenue also drives the city’s evolution. New York’s international gateway transformation plan has been accelerated during the pause in international travel, with LaGuardia Airport, Newark Liberty International Airport, and John F. Kennedy International Airport all adding new terminals and more gates. To cope with the rapidly rising number of tourists, hoteliers have aggressively expanded and renovated their hotels, adding and renovating nearly 10,000 hotel rooms in 2022.

The city in Taiwan that entered the top 100 this time is still Taipei. Its ranking has improved from 61st last year to 42nd, ranking 11th among Asian cities on the list. Described in the competition as being from an urban jungle to an actual real-life jungle, Taipei’s dual landscape reveals a trove of tasty treasures. There are street snacks such as bubble tea and various barbecues, as well as Michelin-starred restaurants such as Din Tai Fung, RAW, and Mume. Showing the vitality of the gourmet city, it also ranked 9th in the restaurant competition.

Taipei is also the headquarters of major electronics manufacturers such as Acer and Asus, making the city synonymous with high-quality and affordable electronic products, ranking 12th in the global shopping rankings. Taipei City has also been committed to urban transformation in recent years, hoping to implement environmental protection in technology, build green buildings, implement smart transportation, use clean energy, and effectively distribute natural resources. It also scores high on the livability and lovability indices and is the first country in Asia to legalize same-sex marriage. Under the seemingly conservative Eastern culture, it is highly tolerant.

At a time when international tourism is picking up rapidly, it is very suitable for people who want to feel the commercial vitality of a country, enjoy convenient transportation, delicious food, and convenient shopping to arrange a city trip. Going to the local area to feel different cultural and artistic atmospheres, browse the evolving technology, experience different urban appearances, and stimulate the senses and inspiration. It will leave an unforgettable touch on life.
