Michelle Dilhara initiated “The Invisible to Visible movement” in 2019. The movement is mainly focused on key targets such as the people who are socially excluded due to low educational status, being in an orphanage, appearance, disability, old age, poverty, barriers to full participation in employment of senior citizens, discrimination and violence or anyone who experiences a sense of negligence or separation from the society as a whole.
Ragama, Sri Lanka (Merxwire) – Popular actress, social activist, author and one of the most googled actresses in Sri Lanka,Michelle Dilhara initiated “The Invisible to Visible movement” in 2019.The Invisible to Visible movement was launched with the factors discussed in the book Social Invisibility is not a Fiction it Exists.It is a campaign designed to implement the key factors identified in the research done to minimize social invisibility and social exclusion.The campaign was initiated with Manusha D. Navarathna and Danushka Clark.Emeritus Professor Antonette Perera and Professor Waruna Chandrakeerthi have mentioned that they will be supporting The Invisible to Visible movement initiated by Michelle. The movement is mainly focused on key targets such as the people who are socially excluded due to low educational status, being in an orphanage,appearance, disability, old age, poverty, barriers to full participation in employment of senior citizens, discrimination and violence or anyone who experiences a sense of negligence or separation from the society as a whole.
The movement will be a gateway to reinforce adult protective services and to create communication hubs for elders.Michelle Dilhara won the Asia Inspiration Award 2018, Youth Peace Ambassador of the year 2019 award and The National Youth Icon Award 2019.She received the National Youth Icon Award 2019 in India, New Delhi along with Licypriya Kangujam, an Indian activist, talking about enacting climate change law in India and disaster risk reduction, who is known to be the youngest climate activist in India. Licypriya Kangujam protested in front of the Parliament House of India addressing the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi to enact the climate change law in India.
Michelle dilhara released her first book Social Invisibility is not a Fiction it Exists in 2019.She released the book with Amazon Kindle. This is a book with a series of social psychology experiments done with many sociology professionals. Social media experiments of the book Social Invisibility is not a Fiction it Exists was done with Thilina Dhanushka Abewickrama, a well known Internet entrepreneur, author and the founder of Gossip Lanka News.Thilina Dhanushka Abewickrama is a product of Mahinda College Buddhist boys’ school in Galle and was born on February 2, 1991 in Galle.He is the son of Major Abewikrama and K.A.Suneetha.
Michelle dilhara initiated a free English language scholarship programme with one of the senior English lectures in Divulapitiya, Danushka Clark.It is a sub project of The Invisible to Visible movement which has provided more than thousand scholarships for students so far.The project was initiated to minimize the negative effects caused by social invisibility,social exclusion, educational status and language barrier.
