The 2022 World’s 50 Best Restaurants Awards Ceremony has successfully concluded in London. This year’s World’s No. 1 restaurant is “Geranium,” a three-Michelin-starred restaurant in Denmark. Denmark’s second consecutive year after “Noma” Took the crown of the 50 Best Restaurants.

The list of winners of 2022 World’s 50 Best Restaurants was announced at the London Awards Ceremony on the 18th of this month. The winners came from five continents restaurants, including 12 new restaurants and two re-listed restaurants. The award ceremony was hosted by an internationally renowned actor and gourmet Stanley Tucci for the first time. According to the original plan, the ceremony would be held in Moscow. But, due to the Ukrainian-Russian war, it was not only held in London this year but also there were no Russian restaurants on the award list.
In this year’s list of winners, the number one “Geranium” is located in Copenhagen and is run by chef Rasmus Kofoed. The second place is the Peruvian restaurant “Central” in Lima. The third and fourth places are Barcelona’s “Disfrutar” and Madrid’s “Diverxo” respectively.
The World’s 50 Best Restaurants is organized by the British magazine “Restaurant” (Restaurant) and sponsored by S.Pellegrino & Acqua Panna. Food and beverage experts vote, and each region has 40 delegates, including a chairperson, each with ten votes, but 4 of them must be voted for restaurants that are not in their area.
In the 2022 winners list, South America and Asia are recognized as culinary powerhouses due to the large number of restaurants on the list. Among them, Peru has got three places, namely the second “Central,” the 11th “Maido,” and the 32nd “Mayta.”
In terms of Asian restaurants, although there are seven restaurants on the list, the ranking is relatively low. The first restaurant on the list is Tokyo, Japan, ranked 20th; the second is Hong Kong’s “Tai Pan Lou,” “ranked 24th. In addition, it is a pity that Singapore’s “Odette” fell the most in the ranking. Last year, it ranked 8th, and this year’s ranking dropped to 36th.
The 50 best restaurants in 2022 are located in 22 countries worldwide, but more than half are in Europe. There are 30 restaurants in Europe alone, 8 in South America, 7 in Asia, 4 in North America, and finally, South Africa has one.
