The trend of electric vehicles (EVs) is strong, and all parts of the world are preparing for the transformation of automotive energy. But according to the survey, American consumers are still hesitant to buy EVs.
San Francisco, CA (Merxwire) – Everyone knows that fossil fuel cars are one of the sources of carbon dioxide. Through the technological development of electric vehicles (EVs), humans can improve energy efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas production. Many experts predict that EVs will completely replace fossil fuel cars in the future. But according to YouGovAmerica’s data, only one in five Americans is considering purchasing EVs in the future.
On August 5, 2021, the United States announced an executive order that half of all new vehicles sold in the United States before 2030 will be zero-emission vehicles (ZEV). Including Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV), Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV), Fuel-cell Electric Vehicles (FCEV). This order is good news for the protection of the environment, but how to implement it and how to improve consumers’ purchasing intentions are issues that must be considered.
According to data from YouGov, more than 27% of American adults said they would consider buying hybrid vehicles in the future, while 22% are focusing on electric vehicles. About 6% of people expressed interest in buying hydrogen-powered vehicles. On the other hand, about 41% of consumers are considering using petrol-powered vehicles. From the survey data, the respondents are slowly preparing for the transformation.
People think that EVs are better for the planet, but petrol-powered vehicles still occupy the largest market for automobiles. Approximately 73% of consumers said they currently own a petrol-fuelled vehicle individually or jointly, while only 4% of consumers said they own EVs. Why are people not willing to buy EVs? Approximately 17% of respondents said that the cost of EVs is high, and the charging station and charging process may be inconvenient. These are all their considerations. Even though the trend of EVs is strong, there must be enough charging stations and a larger battery capacity to improve convenience.
Other survey data also show that Americans and British people are not ready to say goodbye to petrol and diesel cars. In the UK, 48% of people think that carmakers should not only provide EVs, and 41% think they should. In the United States, 29% believe that automakers should only sell EVs, but 59% disagree with it.
What will happen to the development of EVs in the future? EVs have a simple structure, so the maintenance cost is lower than that of internal combustion engine cars. In the future, the stability of their batteries will be better, and the cost will be lower. By then, for manufacturers on the market, the production of internal combustion engines will be Not in line with cost and economic benefits. This situation is similar to the previous camera industry’s conversion from traditional film cameras to digital cameras.
However, before the cost has not been reduced and the charging station has not been perfected, how to improve the consumer’s willingness to buy is still the most important issue.

I think it’s more convenient to add gasoline.
