Cycling Accidents Increase in Japan, the Government Aggravated the Penalties
Japan recently announced new traffic regulations for cyclists, prohibiting cyclists from using mobile phones and strictly prohibiting riding after drinking. Violators may be fined up to 500,000 yen and sentenced to 3 years in prison. This new law was implemented in November in the hope that it can effectively reduce accidents while riding bicycles.
